... The economic relationship between Turkey and the African states, is conducted by means of trade treaties. A considerable number of bilateral agreements and protocols were signed between the two entities, laying the necessary legal foundation on which beneficial economic relations could be built and promoted. Turkey and African countries have signed cultural agreements as well. As a result, a great number of African students have been studying at various Turkish universities either under a cultural exchange program or as privately sponsored students. However, this cultural exchange has been decreased for political reasons. ... Intermarriage has occurred frequently between Turkish people and African citizens who come to Turkey to study, as well as between Africans and Turks who have settled in African countries. Additionally, numerous African soccer players play on various teams in Turkey. The trade between Turkey and African countries include: clothing, food, engine and automobile spare parts and pharmaceuticals. In return, Turkey imports sesame seeds, petroleum, raw and semi-processed leather and rubber from African countries.
